When done well, tasteful instrumentation and production behind a song become the terrain on which the heart travels.  The lyrics become the steady vehicle of truth, while the music provides the dips, climbs, on-ramps, off-ramps, and straight-a-ways on which the truth glides.

As worship songwriters, we always have to consider the audience.  The music we create can very well have a positive, sanctifying, lasting effect on the lives of those who sing them. So what's more important? The music or the lyrics? Part 1.

I love writing songs! It's challenging in so many ways, but so much fun. As we write songs for the church to sing, let's keep in mind that these songs should be biblical, singable, likable, and diverse. So much to unpack!

Songs always has the potential to convey God's story to the masses, and for that reason, sacred songwriting is not to be taken lightly.  Each song is an opportunity to speak to God, and have God speak to us, on a level not traversable on any other plane.
