Selecting just the right key for a song can be tricky, but we have to try. As worship leaders, our chief responsibility is to employ musical elements in order to engage the congregation, helping them connect with the Holy Spirit and worship God. If the congregation can't physically sing a song, it's a non-starter.
I love writing songs! It's challenging in so many ways, but so much fun. As we write songs for the church to sing, let's keep in mind that these songs should be biblical, singable, likable, and diverse. So much to unpack!
Worship leading is not about how musically-qualified we are. It's not about how well we can orchestrate, or how relevant we appear to today's worshipers. It's about our hearts. It always has been about our hearts.
