excellency in worship

We don't want our teams to be made up of self-sufficient musicians, but Spirit-led gift-bearers. We simply would not be doing service to the Kingdom or to our volunteers by missing an opportunity to assess and work with each individual's giftedness.  Somehow, we have to find a way to love the church and love our volunteers at the same time, but I don't think that's too great a challenge to let it pass.

Is your worship team full of gifted musicians? What if it's not? Some thoughts on refining the gifts we have, and shepherding some team members into other areas of service based on their gifting.

We play with excellence because, well, we love God and His people. Oh, and because it's fun.

It can sometimes take a small army to "make Sunday happen", but what does it look like to "let Sunday happen"? An entire team united in spiritual preparedness is unstoppable.

Worship leading is not about how musically-qualified we are. It's not about how well we can orchestrate, or how relevant we appear to today's worshipers. It's about our hearts. It always has been about our hearts.
