I love that I get to do this.
When we step on stage during church, we really have to ask ourselves, "To whom are we calling attention? Are we actually trying to take God's place in worship?" Those questions alone might help us lead with more confidence and comfort up front.
We don't want our teams to be made up of self-sufficient musicians, but Spirit-led gift-bearers. We simply would not be doing service to the Kingdom or to our volunteers by missing an opportunity to assess and work with each individual's giftedness. Somehow, we have to find a way to love the church and love our volunteers at the same time, but I don't think that's too great a challenge to let it pass.
Is your worship team full of gifted musicians? What if it's not? Some thoughts on refining the gifts we have, and shepherding some team members into other areas of service based on their gifting.
We play with excellence because, well, we love God and His people. Oh, and because it's fun.
